Frank Ocean

Everyone & their mama have been talking about Frank Ocean and Odd Future (OFWGKTA) recently. Usually when there's a huge buzz surrounding a band/group/artist I try & steer clear. I guess that's the hipster in me.

A random follower on Twitter sent me a link to Frank Ocean's "Novacane" video on YouTube one night when I was asking around for new music. I wasn't really impressed. I clicked through one or two other video links and wasn't absolutely dumbfounded so I wrote him off as yet another dude I probably wouldn't listen to. My friends were not trying to have that. They even played his entire mixtape at my house a few weeks ago. Background music during a night of intoxicated debauchery. Still didn't catch my attention.

It wasn't until my friend Mike sat me down and vibed with me over a few songs did I actually start to appreciate this guy Frank Ocean. First off, in my honest opinion "Novacane" is a terrible song in comparison to the others I've found recently. Ok maybe not TERRIBLE. It's kind of catchy and the beat is cute (got stuck in my head all weekend) but.. there are better ones out there. Now that I've been allowed some time on my own to let him sink in and actually listen to his music on my headphones as opposed to through speakers (the ONLY way I can truly appreciate music) I think.... I think I might LOVE Frank Ocean lmaooo
